WOW! It is officially DECEMBER!! The 1st to be exact. I personally, can't fucking believe there is only FOUR weeks left of 2016!!! CRAZY!!! It's the month that offers a few exciting things that will make the majority of us very happy! Including, 24 more sleeps until the fat man in the red suit makes an appearance, bells get jingled, trees' get dressed up to match the festive season AND it's the month where people go batshit crazy for the next 31 days! Arrgghhhh!
The flip side of the coin; - the anxieties that come with the end of the year… Beginning of next. An entire new year to fuck up or to flourish in. That, my loves, is or can be a crippling fear (mind the pun).
Where the fuck has this year gone? Have I done enough to call 2016 a good year? Accomplish all of the resolutions I made and vowed to see through? Any changes? Any improvements? How the fuck will 2017 be any different/better??! These are just some of the questions that cross my train-of-thought with transitioning into the month of December. I'm probably not the only one though, right?!
How do you approach this month & all the things it comes with? Traditions? Celebrations? How, how, HOW!?? - forgive my intenseness, I've had way too much coffee haha. JEDS COFFEE STRENGTH FIVE, two large cups yo!
Growing up, I had two options when it came to Christmas;
1. Family lunch with all of my cousins & aunties/uncles on my Mums' side at a decided family members house. Every year, I remember it being at our house. Mum would do majority of the cooking inside, family members had specific dishes they'd be bringing and the men would be outside drinking beer and organizing + cooking our Hangi.
>> HERE << is where you'll find out more about Hangi & the prep-work that goes into the whole thing! (I was lazy asf. & got the quick info in Wikipedia)
After the amazing food has been smashed, not many of us stay long unless a drink-up party has been decided to have! Which, for my family, is highly likely! Booze-hags from way back haha!
Option 2 is similar;
2. Family on my Dads' side would all flock together and have a family-lunch. Now, this was never a small get-together like we have with Mums side of the family. Ohhh hell no! I have over thirty first cousins on Dads' side haha, he has 9 siblings! So, it was definitely never small. We'd always have a HUGE family Hangi that my Papa & the men would take care of. Us kids would all hangout, play, swim… it was so much fun!! As far as I know and remember, an after-party was never on the cards? I could be wrong, but I don’t remember?!
I loved either of the two options. So I wasn’t phased with what was chosen, but as years went on and with each Christmas that came, things changed, families changed. Us kids changed. Family lunch slowly started fading as a whole. Traditions changed.
Do you and your family/friends celebrate or have any traditions, this time of year? What are they?
My bestfriend & her family have such a unique way of celebrating their Christmases. They start with prepping/cooking all of the food on the Eve of xmas. Setting up the venue comes into play as well. Once everything is sorted & ready, they wait for Midnight & that’s when all the fun begins! Present opening, food eating, family time! Bed-time and then when day time hits, everyone just chills right out all day and eats the delicious food.
Fucking awesome tradition right!!? I love it! Share yours with me too!!
SO. Since moving away from home, it occurred to me that I can either travel 6hrs to go celebrate with my loved ones OR I could create my own little "traditions" - I choose both BUT prefer not to travel the 6hrs, fuck that!
Instead, on the 1st of December for the last, almost 5yrs' our Christmas tree goes up! Ready for the fat man in the red suit, whoever that even is. But we don't have a chimney & we lock all of our doors and windows at night, so I don't know how he'll get in?! And if he does manage it, then we'll probably think it's a burglar and AK47 his ass! …should cookies still be left with milk? Hmm! Let me know kay!? :)
Our other thing we do every year is Christmas breakfast - I fucking live for it! Haha! Wifey gets up, collects her faculties and grabs her first cup of coffee (used to be beer ha ha!), then heads outside and cranks the BBQ! I swear I could marry this bitch over & over! She makes home-made bacon&egg mcmuffins & hash browns, & excuse me if I seem bias but I'm not sorry - these fucking mouth watering, home-made delishables would put McDonalds' out of business ha ha!
The rest of the day - FOOD consumes us…well…ME! I wont lie :), "tis' the season to be jolly" after all, right?! - Yep, that'll justify the food intake.
Before we know it, the day after Christmas creeps up on us. BOXING DAY is here!!! Not the actual sport with gloves either! Don’t be bloody silly! It's a public holiday, but not the typical kind where everything is shut. Quite the opposite actually, Wooooooo!! BACK THE FUCK UP BITCHES!!!! Cos' this means SALES SALES SALESSS!!!!... Oh, and then I remember; I'm not fucking psycho enough to soldier it, out there, into the madness of the concrete jungle, to find OR fight for sales!!! Fuck that! Hi-5 to those of you ballsy enough to venture out there though!
Ahhhh! December, December, December! Does it mean anything to you?
Other than Christmas and Boxing day, the month of the Sagittarian is looking quite eventful for me and mine!
The December Agenda -
Do you have a December agenda? I have too, otherwise I'll go fucking bonkers! I contemplated chucking "Resolutions" up on that list BUT is it even worth it? I never stick to them. The thought is nice, I guess? But by week 2 or 3 of the first month into the new year, I'd probably broken every resolution I'd conjured up. DO WHAT I LIKE ha ha!
What's your favourite part of/about this month??! Mine is street hopping, hunting for amazing homes swallowed up in decorations fit for the North Pole! YOU NEED to check out my photo's once upload em! They're so magical! Fuckkkk they get me all hyped up! I fucking LOVEEEE!!!
Aaarrrgghhhh! I better go! I've got suhhh much organizing & blog/webby prep/work to do! Exciting stuff in the pipe-works for me & my webby/bloggy! Just a case of KYLIE GETTING HER SHIT TOGETHER….for once ha ha! In my defense, I did warn you all about my procrastination issues ha ha!
Just love me k?! It's just easier. ;)
Stay happy, keep smiling!
